Plot Summary
Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, one of the most popular ballets of all time, is the romantic story of a young maiden who is turned into a swan by an evil spell, which can only be broken through a pledge of eternal love. In this charming film adaptation on DVD, broadcast on the Disney Channel and directed by Tom Frantz, the ballet is vividly recreated especially to introduce children to the world of dance and is entertaining for the whole family. Sitting by the fireside as the snow falls outside, a grandfather sparks his granddaughter's imagination with his telling of the magical fairytale Swan Lake. His narration is complimented by impressive performances from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and illustrated by the State Ballet of Oregon, dancing in the breathtaking outdoor scenery of the Pacific Northwest.
