Plot Summary

G1 Special in USA Night 2 was a professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling that aired live on NJPWWorld and a week taped delayed on AXS TV. The show took place on July 2, 2017 in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. NJPW crowned its inaugural IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion as the semifinals and finals of the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion tournament culminate. Also, Billy Gunn faced Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. The event's name refers to the annual G1 Climax tournament as these shows also served as a prelude to the 2017 G1 Climax.
