Plot Summary

Follow the real-life rags-to-riches story of acclaimed Mexican performer Rigo Tovar, a musical pioneer whose innovative combination of traditional cumbia rhythms, electric instruments and rock melodies propelled him from poverty to stardom. This documentary shows Tovar, who died in 2005, during the height of his popularity, and features interviews with family members and plenty of live concert footage.
