Plot Summary

*The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition)* follows Bilbo Baggins, a quiet hobbit who is unexpectedly recruited by the wizard Gandalf to join thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield. Their goal is to reclaim the dwarves’ lost homeland, Erebor, from the dragon Smaug. Along the journey, the group faces trolls, orcs, goblins, and other dangers, while Bilbo slowly proves himself braver and more clever than anyone expects. The extended edition adds extra scenes that deepen the dwarves’ backstories, the history of Middle-earth, and Bilbo’s growing role—ending with him finding the mysterious One Ring in the Misty Mountains.
