Plot Summary

Autumn, 1984. Valeria is ten years old; she and her brother live the constant distress of their father's violence and their mother's submission and complicity. Valeria is forced to hide what's going on. On her birthday, her best friend reveals a secret: at the sound of music boxes, the saddest truths can be told, as they hurt less. Valeria has a plan now. Will it work?
