Plot Summary

Haris Acharos is a poor family man, a tax collector by profession, very honest and unwilling to compromise his conscience in any way. His financial problems are great and the temptations to take bribes are many, but Haris Acharos is unshakeable. As a result, his family is deprived and he argues with his wife on a daily basis. His only hope is that his godfather will come from Chicago to bail him out financially.
